Banking Sector Audit Manager – Manama, Bahrain

About the role

Our client, a top‑10 global audit and advisory firm, is seeking an experienced Banking Sector Audit Manager to join their Manama office. The role focuses on leading internal audit engagements for banking clients, ensuring robust risk assessment and regulatory compliance.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and manage end‑to‑end internal audit engagements for banking clients.
• Develop risk‑based audit plans tailored to each client’s business environment.
• Perform complex audit procedures, including risk assessment, control testing, data analysis, and documentation of findings.
• Provide strategic guidance on internal controls, risk management, process improvements, and regulatory compliance.
• Communicate audit results and recommendations to senior management and stakeholders.
• Conduct client meetings, present findings, and drive consensus on remediation plans.
• Stay updated on industry trends, emerging risks, and regulatory changes.
• Contribute to the improvement of audit methodologies, tools, and templates.
• Uphold professional standards, ethics, and confidentiality.
• Manage and mentor a team of auditors.

Required profile

• Qualified accountant – CA, ACCA, CPA or CIA.
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or related field.
• Minimum 7 years of post‑qualification experience in internal auditing or risk management within the banking sector, preferably with a Big 4 or global audit firm.

Required skills

• Internal audit of credit risk, liquidity risk, asset‑liability management and stress testing.
• Capital adequacy assessments, ICAAP, recovery and resolution planning.
• Expected credit loss (ECL) model validation.
• Data analysis and control testing.
• Team leadership and project management.
