Lead Accounts Officer

About the role

The Lead Accounts Officer will act as the primary liaison between the Head of Accounts Payable, internal stakeholders and external vendors. This position supports the overall planning, review and analysis of the accounts payable function while ensuring timely processing of payment requests.

Key responsibilities

• Serve as the main point of contact for all accounts payable inquiries.
• Review, approve and monitor payments, vendor balances, aged payables and outstanding advances.
• Maintain accurate records, reconcile vendor statements and employee expenses, and resolve discrepancies.
• Provide regular dashboards and data for financial analysis and decision‑making.
• Escalate critical issues to the Head of Accounts Payable and Finance Director.
• Collaborate with IT to automate processes and improve reporting.
• Develop and enhance accounts payable policies, procedures and reports.
• Train and mentor accounts payable staff on best practices.
• Liaise with external auditors and support VAT and tax audits.
• Execute ad‑hoc projects as assigned.

Required profile

• Minimum 3 years of experience in accounts payable or a similar finance role.
• Semi‑qualified Chartered Accountant, Bachelor/Master of Commerce or equivalent qualification.
• Proven ability to lead and mentor a team of accountants.
• Strong relationship‑building skills with vendors and internal customers.
• Excellent attention to detail and high level of accuracy.
• Fluent written and spoken Arabic.

Required skills

• Proficiency in accounts payable software and ERP systems (explicit tools not listed).
• Advanced Excel or spreadsheet skills for reporting and analysis.
