Setting Out Manager

About the role

The Setting Out Manager will lead the coordination of internal and external clients and the Setting Out team to ensure smooth project manufacturing, quality, cost performance and client satisfaction. You will support divisional performance, drive efficiency improvements and act as the main liaison between production, site and client stakeholders.

Key responsibilities

• Manage and oversee assigned projects, reviewing details and guiding the setting out team through material submissions, procurement, shop drawing development, prototyping and manufacturing delivery.
• Control project programmes, schedules and client expectations, ensuring timely shop‑drawing preparation and submittal.
• Lead coordination with production departments, verify material specifications, obtain clearances for variations and resolve discrepancies.
• Oversee material requirement identification, procurement planning and ensure all materials arrive before production starts.
• Identify and manage RFIs with clients, source hardware accessories and optimise procurement.
• Supervise the approval process for project drawings, issue cutting lists and loading lines to the factory, and coordinate site surveys or alternative setting‑out plans.
• Interpret contractual obligations, follow up project‑related procurement and prepare regular project status reports.

Required profile

• Minimum ten years of experience in a manufacturing environment, specifically in joinery setting out.
• Proven track record from site survey through to manufacturing shop drawings, cutting lists, material take‑off, ordering and site working drawings.
• Strong knowledge of manufacturing procedures and common joinery materials such as timber, boards, veneers and laminates.
