About the role
The U.S. Army is seeking a Tamil and Hindi Linguist (Category II) to provide language and cultural expertise for operations in Bahrain. The linguist will act as a subject‑matter expert, delivering accurate interpretation, transcription and cultural analysis to senior leadership.
Key responsibilities
- Provide operational linguist support for military missions, including real‑time interpretation during interviews, meetings and conferences.
- Transcribe and analyze verbal communications in Tamil and Hindi, ensuring precise documentation.
- Research, scan and evaluate foreign‑language documents to extract key intelligence and cultural insights.
- Offer cultural perspective on historical, political, sociological and economic trends relevant to the region.
Required profile
- Fluency in both Tamil and Hindi, with proven translation and interpretation experience.
- Eligibility for Category II security clearance or equivalent.
- Understanding of Middle Eastern cultural, political and economic contexts.
- Ability to work in a military environment and support senior leadership.
