AFR Internship – Customer Service & Shipment Management

About the role

This internship offers a hands‑on experience in freight forwarding, supporting customers and managing shipments under close supervision. You will work within DHL Global Forwarding’s AFR team in Bahrain, gaining insight into air, ocean and road freight operations.

Key responsibilities

• Engage with customers to collect shipment information and handle incident or complaint management.
• Verify that costs and revenues are correctly captured against each customer profile and flag any discrepancies.
• Perform administrative tasks such as booking receipt, documentation checks, and coordination of local and international transport.
• Monitor shipments, identify exceptions or operational irregularities, and communicate findings.
• Support data‑quality initiatives and ensure compliance with regulatory procedures for commodities and destinations.
• Assist in routing and assigning shipments to appropriate consolidations, aiming to meet service commitments and optimise profitability.
• Prepare invoices and accompanying documentation to guarantee timely and accurate billing.

Required profile

• Less than 2 years of relevant experience or recent graduate.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to follow established procedures.
• Good communication skills for interacting with customers and internal teams.
