Portfolio Manager – Discretionary Investment (Banking)

About the role

The Portfolio Manager will construct, manage, and monitor discretionary investment portfolios for high‑net‑worth (HNW) and ultra‑high‑net‑worth (UHNW) clients within a banking environment. The role also oversees the performance of mutual fund and ETF products, providing regular updates to senior management.

Key responsibilities

• Design and manage discretionary portfolios across equities, fixed income, sukuk, funds, alternatives, structured products, and cash.
• Implement strategic and tactical asset allocation following Investment Committee guidance.
• Execute trades within mandate authority and ensure compliance with risk limits.
• Conduct portfolio rebalancing, hedging, and risk‑mitigation activities.
• Monitor portfolio performance against benchmarks and risk targets.
• Track performance of in‑house and third‑party mutual funds and ETFs, performing risk analysis and benchmark comparisons.
• Prepare periodic product performance reports for the Head of Department and Investment Committee.
• Identify under‑performing products and recommend corrective actions or replacements.

Required profile

• Proven experience constructing and managing discretionary portfolios for HNW/UHNW clients.
• Strong understanding of asset classes, risk profiling, and regulatory requirements.
• Ability to analyse mutual fund and ETF performance, including volatility, drawdowns, and tracking error.
• Experience preparing performance reports for senior stakeholders.
