Health & Safety Officer – Production & Support (Bahrain)

About the role

The Health & Safety Officer will lead the development and implementation of occupational health and safety programmes for a production environment in Bahrain. You will ensure compliance with local legislation, minimise workplace risks and foster a safety‑first culture across the organisation.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and maintain HSE policies, procedures, manuals and quality documentation.
• Identify hazards, conduct risk assessments and implement preventive controls for chemical, physical and ergonomic risks.
• Manage the internal HSE team, provide training and oversee audits of OHS compliance.
• Liaise with government authorities, ministries and regulatory bodies to ensure smooth operations.
• Investigate incidents, determine root causes and recommend corrective actions.
• Maintain emergency response plans, hazardous waste management and preparedness procedures.
• Ensure all plant, equipment and substances meet duty‑of‑care legislation.

Required profile

• Bahraini nationals with ≥3 years HSE experience, or expatriates with ≥6 years relevant experience.
• Strong knowledge of Bahrain HSE laws, reporting requirements and liaison processes.
• Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) and NEBOSH Diploma or comparable HSE qualification.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal and training abilities.
• Positive attitude, integrity and a strong sense of responsibility.

Required skills

• Knowledge of Bahrain HSE legislation
