Oracle Database Support Engineer

About the role

We are seeking an Oracle Database Support Engineer with 3–7 years of hands‑on experience to ensure the availability, reliability, security, and performance of our production Oracle databases. You will work closely with development, application, and infrastructure teams to resolve incidents, optimise SQL, and maintain data integrity.

Key responsibilities

• Provide production and on‑call support for Oracle databases, including incident resolution and troubleshooting.
• Monitor database performance, capacity, availability, and health.
• Perform SQL and database performance tuning – execution plans, indexing, statistics, and query optimisation.
• Troubleshoot slow queries, locking, blocking sessions, deadlocks, wait events, and database errors.
• Maintain data integrity, consistency, security, and availability.
• Manage users, roles, privileges, schemas, storage and routine maintenance tasks.
• Execute RMAN backup, restore, recovery and disaster‑recovery activities.
• Support patching, upgrades, migrations, deployments and configuration changes.
• Conduct root‑cause analysis and implement corrective or preventive actions.
• Collaborate with development, application and infrastructure teams on database‑related issues and SQL optimisation.
• Monitor alerts and proactively identify performance, capacity and availability risks.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT, Engineering or a related field.
• 3–7 years of production Oracle database administration and support experience.
• Strong problem‑solving, communication and incident‑management skills.
• Willingness to participate in on‑call/rotational production support.
• Oracle OCP certification and ITIL experience are desirable.
