Proposals Engineer

About the role

The Proposals Engineer will lead the end‑to‑end development of bids and proposals, ensuring each submission aligns with project objectives and commercial strategy. This role works closely with multidisciplinary teams to deliver compelling, compliant, and competitive documents.

Key responsibilities

• Manage the full proposal lifecycle from RFP receipt to final submission.
• Analyse tender documents to extract client requirements, scope, format and evaluation criteria.
• Collaborate with architects, engineers, QS and other specialists to optimise technical solutions, cost efficiency and scheduling.
• Develop detailed proposal schedules, assign responsibilities and track progress.
• Write and edit technical and commercial content, maintaining clarity, consistency and a persuasive narrative.
• Incorporate AI tools and Six Sigma/Lean principles to streamline workflows and improve document quality.
• Prepare and review PQs, EOIs, technical and commercial proposals, capability statements and ensure branding compliance.
• Coordinate with directors, discipline leads, legal and contracts teams, and liaise with clients during pre‑bid and post‑submission phases.
• Monitor market opportunities, maintain a proposal database and contribute insights to business development strategy.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in architecture, engineering or a related discipline.
• 10‑15 years of experience in proposal or bid management, preferably within an A/E/QS consultancy.
• Proven track record of managing complex, multidisciplinary proposals.
• Strong understanding of A/E/QS industry terminology, workflows and deliverables.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, able to convey technical and legal issues clearly.
• Professional certifications such as APMP (proposal management) or CIN (negotiations) are a plus.
