Transaction Monitoring Technical Lead

About the role

We are seeking a Transaction Monitoring Technical Lead to own and enhance our bank’s Transaction Monitoring and Customer Risk Assessment platforms. Reporting to the Head of IT, you will drive optimisation of detection scenarios, risk scoring models and system performance while ensuring compliance with evolving AML, CTF, KYC and regulatory standards.

Key responsibilities

• Optimise transaction monitoring and customer risk assessment systems to improve detection quality and operational efficiency.
• Develop, tune and maintain detection rules, scenarios, thresholds and risk scoring models.
• Analyse false positives and implement refinements without reducing detection effectiveness.
• Monitor real‑time system performance and ensure robust data integration with transaction feeds, customer databases and regulatory sources.
• Test, validate and update detection models following system upgrades and regulatory changes.
• Apply analytics, statistical techniques and machine learning to enhance anomaly detection and risk scoring.
• Produce reports on system performance, alert trends and optimisation activities.
• Maintain governance artefacts, audit trails and configuration documentation.
• Lead technology teams and act as the technical SME during audits, regulatory inspections and internal reviews.

Required profile

• 8+ years of experience managing AML/CTF technology in an international banking or regulated financial services environment.
• 6+ years of hands‑on experience with transaction monitoring or customer risk assessment platforms.
• Proven ability to translate regulatory requirements into technical solutions.
• Strong collaboration skills with compliance, operations, IT and external vendors.
