Baker – International 5‑Star Cruise Ship

About the role

The baker is responsible for delivering high‑quality, efficient bakery operations on board an international 5‑star cruise vessel. The role requires strict adherence to company policies, public health standards, and a focus on total guest satisfaction.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and bake breads, pastries, and other baked goods according to company recipes and quality standards.
• Plan, requisition, collect, and manage bakery ingredients and supplies, ensuring sufficient stock levels, including frozen bread products.
• Maintain consistency in product quality, taste, presentation, and appearance while minimizing waste and controlling food costs.
• Prepare specialty items, buffet decorations, early‑riser trays, and accommodate guests with dietary restrictions or allergies.
• Support guest chef programs, cooking demonstrations, special events, and themed functions.
• Ensure proper food storage, handling, temperature monitoring, and inventory control in compliance with public health regulations.
• Maintain a clean, organized workstation and perform preventive maintenance on bakery equipment.
• Assist with inventory counts, equipment accountability, and waste disposal procedures.
• Train and mentor new team members while fostering positive inter‑departmental relationships.

Required profile

• Valid STCW95 certification.
• Minimum of 4 years' experience in a similar position at an international 5‑star establishment.
• Proficiency in European baking techniques.
• Knowledge of public health policies and procedures.
• Ability to read, interpret, and demonstrate culinary fundamentals.
• Physically and medically fit, able to lift up to 50 lb and stand for long periods.
• Excellent fluent English (verbal and written) for safety and guest interaction.
