Civil Structural Engineer

About the role

Bureau Veritas is hiring a Civil Structural Engineer in Bahrain, reporting to the BNI Manager / Team Leader and working closely with the B&I Manager, Team Leader and internal and external customers. The engineer performs design reviews, technical audits, expert studies and other conformity assessment services, with design appraisal as the main current mission.

Key responsibilities

• Perform technical audits and control services such as design review, specialised and expert studies, and technical audits within conformity assessment services
• Evaluate concrete and steel structures, foundations, soil excavations, precast and prestressed concrete, steel connections and façade systems, using 2D/3D software with Team Leader support
• Carry out concept studies, soil investigation and seismic reports, and analyses of foundations, seismic, wind and superstructure
• Produce hand calculations, load combinations, stress checks and code checks, and prepare technical reports
• Inspect civil works sites, review material submittals and method statements, and issue weekly and monthly reports
• Meet with clients and authorities, liaise with designers and project managers, and help prepare tender technical aspects
• Take part in product development, knowledge management and commercial support, and respect security guidelines

Required profile

• University degree in engineering or post-graduate degree
• Minimum 15 years of experience as a structural engineer
• CRPEP A grade licence; candidate must be based in Bahrain
• Licensed by Dubai Municipality for structural design review of unlimited height
• Ability to discuss design review matters with clients and authorities

Required skills

• Good technical reporting in English
• Conversant with international codes (BS, AISC, ACI, IBC) and structural design software
• MS Office and structural engineering software
• Knowledge of the project country's standards is a plus
