Deputy Money Laundering Reporting Officer (DMLRO)

About the role

The Deputy Money Laundering Reporting Officer (DMLRO) will support Apex Group’s compliance function in Manama, ensuring strict adherence to Bahrain Central Bank (CBB) AML/CFT and sanctions regulations. Reporting to the Head of Compliance & MLRO, the DMLRO acts as a key liaison with regulatory bodies and helps safeguard the firm against financial crime risks.

Key responsibilities

• Serve as the company’s DMLRO under the CBB Rulebook and assist the MLRO in daily duties.
• Submit Suspicious Transaction Reports (STRs) and other regulatory returns on time.
• Maintain comprehensive records of internal AML reports and decisions.
• Oversee customer due‑diligence (CDD/EDD), ongoing monitoring, KYC reviews, sanctions screening and PEP identification.
• Approve reliance on third‑party service providers and monitor AML risks from outsourcing.
• Prepare and deliver AML/CFT training and awareness programmes.
• Liaise with regulators, auditors and senior management on AML matters.
• Assist the Data Protection Officer with related reporting obligations.

Required profile

• Proven experience in AML/CFT compliance within a financial services environment.
• Strong knowledge of the CBB Rulebook, sanctions regimes and AML best practices.
• Ability to work independently, maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment.
• Excellent communication skills for interaction with regulators and senior leadership.

Required skills

• In‑depth understanding of AML/CFT policies, procedures and controls.
• Experience with customer due‑diligence, KYC, EDD and sanctions screening processes.
• Familiarity with regulatory reporting, STR filing and audit remediation.
