Lead Auditor - Internal Audit

About the role

The Lead Auditor directs the work of assigned Internal Auditors and leads audit programmes focused on cost control, cost reduction, profit improvement and asset security. The role reviews established systems for compliance with company objectives and procedures, prepares audit reports with findings and recommendations, and ensures risks are mitigated through follow-up audits.

Key responsibilities

• Direct the work of assigned Internal Auditors, recommend audit areas and execute assigned audit tasks.
• Develop detailed audit programmes, including planning tests, defining procedures and identifying key control points to assess financial risks.
• Analyse inherent risks in reviewed processes, assess their likelihood and impact, and prepare a risk/control matrix (RCM) for the audit programme.
• Prepare detailed audit reports summarising findings, applying analytical techniques, discussing observations with stakeholders and offering actionable recommendations.
• Conduct follow-up audits to verify corrective actions and propose special investigations when necessary.
• Perform internal quality reviews as directed, ensuring compliance with the International Professional Practices Framework (IPPF).
• Represent the department professionally, stay informed on local and international Internal Audit developments and comply with health, safety and security requirements.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree (minimum).
• 5 years of audit experience, of which at least 3 years in a reputable accounting practice.
• Professional accounting qualification such as CPA or equivalent.
• High level of proficiency in written and spoken English.
