Senior Accountant (Accounts Payable)

About the role

The Senior Accountant is responsible for managing accounts payable operations, ensuring accurate and timely processing of invoices, payments, reconciliations, and compliance with internal controls. The role supports month‑end close activities, strengthens financial controls, and drives continuous improvement in accounting processes.

Key responsibilities

• Manage the full accounts payable cycle, from invoice receipt and validation to coding, approval, posting and payment processing.
• Perform three‑way matching of purchase orders, goods receipt notes and invoices, coordinating with Procurement, Warehouse and Operations to resolve discrepancies.
• Maintain vendor master data, including setup, updates and bank details, with appropriate controls and documentation.
• Prepare and execute weekly and monthly payment runs, aligning with cash planning and Treasury priorities.
• Reconcile vendor statements, resolve disputes, debit/credit notes and monitor AP aging to ensure timely settlement.
• Support month‑end close activities such as accruals, pre‑payments, GRIR accruals and balance‑sheet reconciliations.
• Ensure compliance with internal controls, approval matrices and VAT regulations, and assist internal and external auditors.
• Track AP performance metrics, identify process gaps and recommend improvements, and coach junior AP staff.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field.
• 4–7 years of accounting experience with strong exposure to accounts payable.
• Local Bahrain experience preferred, including knowledge of VAT compliance.
• Experience in high‑volume or fast‑paced environments is an advantage.

Required skills

• Proficiency with ERP systems, preferably Microsoft Dynamics 365 or equivalent.
• Advanced Excel skills, including pivot tables, lookups and complex reconciliations.
