Senior Accountant

About the role

Alkem Health and Wellness is seeking a Senior Accountant to lead its financial accounting function in the Capital Governorate of Bahrain. The role is full‑time, on‑site and responsible for the integrity of the general ledger, month‑end and year‑end closings, and the production of accurate financial statements.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain the general ledger, perform bank reconciliations and oversee accounts payable and receivable.
• Execute month‑end and year‑end closing processes and prepare statutory financial statements.
• Support budgeting, forecasting and variance analysis to aid management decision‑making.
• Ensure compliance with Bahraini accounting standards, tax regulations and internal policies.
• Assist internal and external audits and continuously improve financial controls and SOPs.
• Mentor junior accounting staff and collaborate with cross‑functional teams on strategic projects.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or related field; CPA, ACCA or equivalent preferred.
• Proven experience in a senior accounting role, preferably within health, wellness or service‑focused organisations.
• Strong knowledge of Bahrain accounting standards and regulatory requirements.
• Excellent analytical, problem‑solving and organizational abilities with high attention to detail.
• Effective communication skills and ability to work collaboratively across departments.

Required skills

• Proficiency with accounting software and ERP systems.
• Advanced use of spreadsheets and data analysis tools.
• Experience in general ledger management, reconciliations and financial statement preparation.
