About the role
VAM Systems is seeking an experienced Senior Java Developer to join its Bahrain operations and work on banking projects. The role focuses on designing, building and maintaining high‑performance Java applications and micro‑services.
Key responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain Java (8/11/14) applications following OOP and clean‑code principles.
- Build backend services using Spring Framework, Spring Boot and JPA/Hibernate.
- Create, expose and consume RESTful APIs and support SOAP/WSDL integrations when required.
- Implement micro‑services architecture, including service communication and API lifecycle management.
- Design and optimise data models, write efficient SQL for MySQL and manage NoSQL databases such as MongoDB.
- Apply concurrency, multithreading and message‑queuing (IBM MQ, Kafka) to improve system throughput.
- Integrate security and identity standards like OAuth2, OpenID Connect, SAML/SSO, TLS and PKI.
- Troubleshoot production issues, perform root‑cause analysis and support multiple cases in parallel.
- Conduct testing, debugging and ensure code quality using Git and CI/CD pipelines (Azure DevOps).
- Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to gather requirements and document technical specifications.
Required profile
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a related field.
- 7‑10 years of professional software development experience.
- Proven experience in banking or financial services projects.
Required skills
- Java (8, 11, 14), OOP, SOLID, DRY principles.
- Java concurrency and multithreading.
- Microservices architecture.
- Spring Framework, Spring Boot, JPA/Hibernate.
- RESTful API design and implementation.
- SOAP/WSDL/XML integration.
- API Management.
- Message queuing systems (IBM MQ, Kafka).
- HTTP/HTTPS protocols, web servers.
- Relational databases (MySQL) and SQL scripting.
- NoSQL databases (MongoDB).
- UI technologies: HTML5, Thymeleaf/JSP, JSF, PrimeFaces, CSS, JavaScript, jQuery.
- Security & identity protocols: OpenID, OAuth2, TLS, SAML, SSO, PKI encryption.
- Git version control.
- DevOps practices, CI/CD pipelines (Azure DevOps).
