Setting Out Manager – Manufacturing Projects

About the role

The Setting Out Manager will lead the coordination of internal and external clients together with the setting‑out team to ensure a smooth manufacturing flow, high client satisfaction and balanced quality‑cost performance. This senior role supports divisional performance, drives efficiency improvements and oversees day‑to‑day planning of setting‑out resources.

Key responsibilities

• Manage assigned projects, reviewing details and guiding the setting‑out team through material submissions, procurement, shop‑drawing development, prototyping and manufacturing delivery.
• Oversee project programmes, schedules and client expectations, ensuring timely approval of shop drawings and cutting lists.
• Coordinate with production departments, verify material specifications, handle variations and obtain clearances for discrepancies.
• Plan and control material procurement, ensuring all items arrive before production starts.
• Identify and manage RFIs with clients, source hardware accessories and optimise sourcing where possible.
• Lead site‑survey coordination, arrange alternative solutions for fast‑track projects and interpret contractual work requirements.
• Prepare project status reports and forward‑plan cutting‑list issuance to manufacturing.

Required profile

• Minimum ten years of experience in a manufacturing environment, specifically in joinery setting‑out.
• Proven track record from site survey through to shop‑drawing preparation, material take‑off, ordering, and loading‑line issuance.
• Strong knowledge of manufacturing procedures and common joinery materials such as timber, boards, veneers and laminates.
