Stock Controller – Sports Retail

About the role

The Stock Controller – Sports will manage purchasing and replenishment of retail products for GMG’s sports division, ensuring stock levels stay within budget and meet operational needs.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain accurate inventory and stock management systems within agreed parameters.
• Receive supplies, verify quantities, condition and specifications against purchase orders, and complete required paperwork.
• Log all stock movements in and out, reconcile with transfer documents, and highlight discrepancies.
• Monitor stock levels, alert the store manager when budget thresholds are approached or exceeded.
• Administer returns, manage a dedicated area for returns, credits, expired, damaged or unsellable goods.
• Organise storeroom space, ensure compliance with regulations and health‑and‑safety procedures.
• Coordinate with store operations staff to prepare damaged‑stock lists for warehouse processing.
• Conduct weekly cycle counts and support the annual full physical inventory.

Required profile

• 2–5 years of relevant experience, including at least 1 year in a similar stock control role.
• Strong product and category knowledge within the retail industry.
• Experience in sports‑related retail environments is a plus.
