Assistant Resident Engineer

About the role

AECOM is looking for an Assistant Resident Engineer to join its highways and bridges project team in Bahrain. The role will support the Resident Engineer in managing on‑site construction activities, ensuring compliance with design documents, specifications and Ministry of Works requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Assist and support the Resident Engineer (RE) or Senior Resident Engineer (SRE) with daily site activities.
• Liaise with client, authorities and contractors to address site‑related requirements.
• Supervise quality‑assurance inspection staff and sub‑consultants to verify compliance with plans and specifications.
• Monitor safety of AECOM staff and contractor personnel on site.
• Process daily project documentation, construction observations and non‑conformance reports.
• Review and track inspectors’ and sub‑consultants’ daily work reports.
• Prepare and issue correspondence to contractors and clients.
• Lead weekly progress meetings in the absence of the RE.
• Maintain project documents according to company and client standards.
• Provide technical direction to engineers, inspectors and surveyors as needed.

Required profile

• Proven experience in site supervision of highways and bridges projects.
• Ability to coordinate with multidisciplinary engineers and external stakeholders.
• Strong understanding of construction documents, specifications and contract administration.
• Experience in preparing and managing non‑conformance reports and daily work reports.
• Capability to conduct inspections, walk‑downs and ensure safety compliance on site.
