Business Analyst – Data Privacy

About the role

For a well‑known Islamic bank in Bahrain, we are looking for a Business Analyst to support the Data Privacy team by documenting, reviewing, and maintaining accurate records of business processes and data flows involving personal data, ensuring Records of Processing Activities (RoPA) are accurate, current, and compliant.

Key responsibilities

• Engage proactively with Business Units and support functions to identify, review, and document business processes involving personal data, including new processes, changes, and decommissioned activities.
• Capture end‑to‑end process details such as purpose, data elements, systems, internal and external recipients, third parties, and storage locations.
• Maintain the Records of Processing Activities (RoPA) and support the data inventory, ensuring entries are accurate, current, and complete.
• Run a periodic attestation cycle, requiring business units to confirm or update their RoPA entries and escalating non‑responsive functions.
• Map data flows across systems and third parties, producing clear documentation to support the Data Privacy team’s assessments.
• Produce management reports on RoPA coverage, status, and outstanding actions.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Information Systems, or a related field.
• 3 to 5 years of experience as a Business Analyst, Process Analyst, or similar role.
• Preferably experience within banking or financial services.
• Experience in process mapping and business process documentation.

Required skills

• Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
• Familiarity with documentation tools.
• Experience with GRC or data inventory platforms (advantage).
• Ability to translate business requirements into structured documentation.
