Diagnostic Technician – Vehicle Systems

About the role

The Diagnostic Technician will perform comprehensive vehicle diagnostics to identify electrical, electronic, mechanical and system‑related faults. Working in the Motor City Service Center, you will use manufacturer‑specific and advanced tools to interpret fault codes and provide accurate repair recommendations.

Key responsibilities

• Run diagnostic tests using advanced equipment to retrieve and analyse fault codes and system data.
• Systematically troubleshoot and pinpoint root causes of reported vehicle issues.
• Inspect vehicles based on customer complaints and service advisor reports.
• Diagnose engine management, transmission, ABS, SRS/airbag, climate control, body‑control and other electronic systems.
• Interpret wiring diagrams, technical bulletins and diagnostic data.
• Perform electrical testing and determine whether faults are component, wiring, sensor or control‑module related.
• Communicate findings and repair recommendations to service advisors and workshop team.
• Verify completed repairs through diagnostic checks and vehicle testing.
• Document diagnosed faults accurately in the workshop/job‑card system.
• Escalate complex issues to the workshop manager or technical support team.

Required profile

• Minimum 3‑4 years of automotive diagnostic experience, preferably in a dealership or professional workshop.
• Strong knowledge of modern vehicle electronic systems and control modules.
• Ability to read and interpret automotive wiring diagrams and technical information.
• Excellent attention to detail and strong troubleshooting skills.
• Good communication skills and ability to work in a fast‑paced workshop environment.
