Field Operator II

About the role

The Field Operator II ensures safe and efficient operation of a gas compression plant, meeting production targets while following strict safety and reliability procedures. The role involves continuous monitoring, routine maintenance, and coordination with supervisors to maintain optimal plant performance.

Key responsibilities

• Operate and monitor all process equipment and conduct related maintenance activities.
• Log equipment operational parameters regularly.
• Identify and report critical operational abnormalities to supervisors.
• Perform mechanical and instrumentation tasks as directed.
• Follow established operation & maintenance (O&M) instructions.
• Troubleshoot and restart compressors after unexpected shutdowns.
• Conduct plant shutdowns and start‑ups as required.
• Pressurize and de‑pressurize equipment and pipelines.
• Review pressure, temperature and level gauges and report issues.
• Adjust operational parameters with supervisors during routine operations, start‑ups, and shutdowns.
• Participate in periodic procedure reviews and suggest improvements.
• Execute daily, monthly, and quarterly checks and frontline maintenance.
• Prepare equipment for maintenance through isolation, draining, and decontamination.
• Hand over shift information to the next team.
• Identify, report, and correct unsafe conditions.
• Perform scheduled operational and maintenance checks.
• Handle chemicals, lubricants, coolants and collect samples as required.
• Maintain housekeeping and cleanliness of the plant.
• Communicate with clients and customers as directed.
• Respond to day‑to‑day requests and work at different locations as needed.
• Participate in Emergency Response Team duties.
• Comply with all company HR, Quality, HSE, and policy requirements.
• Perform other duties assigned by supervisors or managers.

Required profile

• Technical degree in Industrial Processes, Chemical, Petroleum or equivalent.
• Minimum 5 years experience in gas compression plant operations.
• Familiarity with gas plant equipment, processes and ongoing activities.
• Ability to perform mechanical and instrumentation work.
• Strong troubleshooting capability.
• Commitment to safety, HSE standards and shift hand‑over procedures.
