General Mechanic – Hotel Maintenance

About the role

The General Mechanic will respond to guest repair requests, perform preventive maintenance on hotel equipment, and ensure the smooth operation of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems across the property. The role involves inspecting tools, handling shut‑off valves, maintaining inventory, and communicating daily activities to other shifts.

Key responsibilities

• Respond to guest repair requests and resolve maintenance issues.
• Perform preventive maintenance on tools, kitchen, and mechanical‑room equipment, including cleaning and lubrication.
• Visually inspect tools, equipment, and machines; carry equipment such as tools and radios.
• Identify, locate, and operate shut‑off valves for equipment and building utilities.
• Maintain maintenance inventory and requisition parts and supplies.
• Communicate daily activities and problems to other shifts using approved programs.
• Perform surface preparation, painting, minor drywall and wood‑trim repair, and clean work areas.
• Test, troubleshoot, and repair equipment, plumbing, electrical components, and guest‑room items.
• Use Lockout/Tagout system before performing any maintenance work.
• Perform interior and exterior landscaping repairs and maintain sprinklers.
• Input air‑handler schedules and adjust temperature settings via computer.

Required profile

• High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent.
• Some experience in general maintenance, surface preparation, and painting; hotel engineering experience a plus.
• Valid driver’s license.
• No supervisory experience required.
