Pastry Commis – Bakery Assistant

About the role

We are looking for a motivated Pastry Commis to join the bakery team at Raffles Al Areen Palace Bahrain. The role supports the senior chef in preparing breads, pastries, cakes and other bakery items for daily service, buffet setups and special events.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in the preparation and baking of breads, pastries, cakes and other bakery products following standard recipes and portion controls.
• Maintain proper storage, labeling and rotation of all bakery ingredients and ensure compliance with HACCP hygiene and safety standards.
• Operate bakery equipment safely and efficiently, including mixers, ovens and proofers.
• Support inventory control, stock replenishment and waste reduction initiatives.
• Keep the work station clean and organized and assist with mise‑en‑place for the bakery team.

Required profile

• Formal culinary education in baking and pastry arts (diploma or degree).
• At least 1–2 years of experience working in a bakery or pastry kitchen.
• Strong attention to detail in measurements, timing and presentation.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a fast‑paced hotel environment.

Required skills

• Operation of bakery equipment such as mixers, ovens and proofers.
• Knowledge of HACCP food safety and sanitation procedures.
• Inventory management and portion control.
