Polishing Supervisor

About the role

The Polishing Supervisor supervises staff painters, communicates daily tasks and monitors painting techniques, adherence to specifications, general safety and clean-up. The role covers planning, quality control and reporting for painting projects.

Key responsibilities

• Obtain the day's work orders and make sure the job requirements are clearly understood.
• Plan the work, verify the job location and check that lead and equipment are ready.
• Verify that the team is available and properly prepared, then instruct painters on job details.
• Ensure painting supplies, equipment and PPE are gathered and assembled.
• Make sure surfaces are properly prepared before painting.
• Oversee the team and inspect quality throughout the day, ensuring work meets specifications and standards.
• Check that the team works safely, follows safety guidelines and uses protective equipment; report unsafe acts or equipment to the Manager immediately.
• Complete daily reports and assist workers in mixing and blending paint and stains.
• Estimate time and material requirements for assigned projects.
• Understand modern paint technologies and materials, measuring quality and consumption to ensure optimum savings.
• Optimize capacity on shift-based standards for manual and automatic spraying.

Required profile

• 5+ years of experience in the painting industry (similar level preferred).
• High school education or diploma preferred.
• Quality-minded focus, able to complete jobs right the first time.

Required skills

• Able to read CAD drawings.
• Solid knowledge of preparing and applying paints, stains and surface preparation materials to a wide variety of surfaces.
• Familiarity with safety guidelines, PPE requirements and hazardous material handling, application and disposal.
• Basic computer skills and communication skills.
