Senior CAD Designer / CAD Team Leader

About the role

The Senior CAD Designer / CAD Team Leader will act as the bridge between Design, Product Development and Production, turning creative jewellery concepts into precise, manufacturable 3D models. The role also provides technical leadership to the CAD team, establishing standards, reviewing output and developing capability.

Key responsibilities

• Create highly accurate 3D CAD models for 18K, 21K and High Jewellery collections, ensuring technical feasibility and manufacturability.
• Review designs for stone setting, metal thickness, tolerances and production requirements, identifying and solving potential manufacturing challenges.
• Lead, coach and allocate work for CAD Designers, establishing consistent modelling standards and quality expectations.
• Collaborate closely with Jewellery Designers, Product Development, Production and Gemology teams to align creative intent with commercial and technical constraints.
• Prepare detailed CAD files and technical outputs for prototyping, casting and manufacturing, maintaining version control throughout the development process.

Required profile

• 8–12+ years of professional jewellery CAD experience, preferably in fine or high jewellery environments.
• Proven track record creating complex, production‑ready jewellery models.
• Experience leading or mentoring CAD designers and driving technical standards.
• Strong understanding of jewellery construction, manufacturing processes and stone setting.
• Excellent attention to detail, 3‑D visualisation skills and ability to manage multiple projects in a fast‑paced setting.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Rhino 3D, MatrixGold or equivalent jewellery CAD software.
• Advanced 3‑D modelling and CAD design techniques for jewellery.
• Knowledge of technical CAD standards, tolerances, metal thickness and weight optimisation.
