AC Technician

About the role

The AC Technician is responsible for maintaining and repairing all air‑conditioning and refrigeration equipment within a hotel environment. The role ensures that chillers, air‑handling units, fan coil units, freezers, cold rooms and related systems operate reliably and meet temperature specifications at all times.

Key responsibilities

• Attend daily shift briefings and follow the hotel’s business plan and corporate policies.
• Perform preventive maintenance on chillers, air‑handling units, fan coil units, freezers, cold rooms, ice‑cube machines and other refrigeration equipment.
• Assist the Engineering Supervisor with full overhauls of AC plant during winter months.
• Diagnose and repair AC or refrigeration equipment according to the daily assignment sheet.
• Monitor temperatures of kitchen freezers, fridges and ice‑cube machines, adjust settings, and complete daily temperature logs.
• Repair guest‑room air‑conditioning units, coordinating access with the Housekeeping Supervisor.
• Maintain a clean and safe work area, protect surrounding surfaces, and ensure guest rooms are not left unattended.
• Interact courteously with guests and prepare meeting‑room AC systems prior to events.
• Prepare monthly status reports on plant and equipment for the Engineering Supervisor.
• Participate in the hotel’s emergency team and follow fire, evacuation and crisis‑management procedures.

Required profile

• Ability to follow shift briefings, safety protocols and corporate procedures.
• Strong attention to detail and proactive identification of defective equipment.
• Good communication skills for guest interaction and teamwork.
• Willingness to work on‑site in a hotel environment, including evenings or weekends as needed.

Required skills

• HVAC system maintenance and troubleshooting.
• Refrigeration equipment servicing (chillers, air‑handling units, fan coil units, freezers, cold rooms, ice‑cube machines).
• Preventive maintenance planning and execution.
• Temperature monitoring and logging.
• Use of hand and power tools in a hotel setting.
