About the role

The Commis Chef supports senior chefs in a fast‑paced kitchen environment, ensuring smooth preparation and service. This entry‑level position offers hands‑on training and the chance to develop core culinary skills.

Key responsibilities

• Assist senior chefs, follow directions, and maintain discipline while contributing to a teamwork‑driven kitchen.
• Ensure compliance with food safety, hygiene, and health regulations, including sanitation and proper food handling.
• Participate in training sessions, apply feedback, and help onboard new commis chefs.
• Help control costs by minimizing waste, following portion guidelines, and supporting inventory rotation.

Required profile

• Diploma or certification in Culinary Arts, Professional Cookery, or related field (training/apprenticeship acceptable).
• 1–2 years experience in a professional kitchen or completion of culinary training with practical exposure.
• Basic knowledge of HACCP, food safety regulations, and hygiene practices.
• Ability to follow instructions, work collaboratively, and maintain consistency and quality.
• Strong organizational skills for managing prep tasks and keeping the workstation clean.
