Duty Engineer

About the role

The Duty Engineer supports the engineering department of Mantis’s hotel portfolio, ensuring that all maintenance, repair and construction activities are carried out safely, efficiently and in line with preventive‑maintenance plans. The role involves daily briefings with senior engineering staff, coordination of work orders, and rapid response to emergencies.

Key responsibilities

• Attend morning briefings with the Assistant Chief Engineer/Director of Engineering and participate in all engineering office meetings.
• Plan, assign, inspect and supervise maintenance, repair and construction tasks across the property.
• Execute and monitor preventive‑maintenance schedules, generating daily, weekly and monthly reports.
• Manage work orders: distribute requests, track progress, and communicate status to supervisors.
• Troubleshoot equipment failures, provide technical assistance to technicians, and perform emergency repairs.
• Ensure compliance with safety protocols and report major issues promptly.
• Oversee manpower allocation and respond to maintenance requests and emergencies.
• Participate in ongoing training to maintain operational efficiency and safety standards.

Required profile

• Proven experience in hotel or facilities engineering, with a focus on maintenance planning and supervision.
• Ability to work under pressure, prioritize tasks and respond quickly to emergencies.
• Strong organizational skills for managing work orders and reporting.
• Commitment to safety standards and environmental conservation.
