Lecturer / Senior Lecturer – Clinical Microbiology

About the role

RCSI Bahrain is seeking a dynamic, clinically‑focused Lecturer or Senior Lecturer in Clinical Microbiology to join its School of Medicine. The successful candidate will deliver undergraduate and postgraduate teaching that integrates microbiology, infectious diseases, infection prevention and antimicrobial stewardship into modern medical practice.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver high‑quality, systems‑based and case‑based teaching in microbiology, infectious diseases and related topics.
• Facilitate small‑group tutorials, laboratory interpretation sessions, clinical correlation workshops and team‑based learning activities.
• Develop and deliver practical and simulation activities, as well as online and blended learning content.
• Participate in student assessment, including question writing, OSCEs, practical exams, standard setting and moderation.
• Collaborate with the Department of Clinical Microbiology at RCSI Dublin to ensure coordinated curriculum and assessment across campuses.
• Provide academic mentorship, pastoral support and contribute to curriculum planning and vertical integration.
• Engage in scholarly activity, educational innovation and research related to clinical microbiology.

Required profile

• Medically qualified clinician with expertise in Infectious Diseases and/or Clinical (Medical) Microbiology.
• Demonstrated experience in medical education, curriculum development and student assessment.
• Strong academic record and potential for leadership in teaching and research.
