Plumping Engineer

About the role

The Plumbing Engineer is responsible for designing, planning, coordinating and overseeing plumbing systems on construction projects. The role ensures water supply, drainage and sanitary installations are efficient, safe and compliant with all relevant codes and project requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Design and develop complete plumbing systems, including water supply, drainage, sanitary and related networks.
• Prepare detailed layouts, calculations, drawings, specifications and material schedules using CAD and engineering software.
• Perform pipe‑sizing, flow‑rate and pressure calculations to verify system capacities.
• Ensure designs comply with local regulations, codes, standards and project specifications.
• Coordinate plumbing designs with architectural, mechanical, civil, electrical and structural disciplines.
• Review drawings and technical documents to identify and resolve coordination issues.
• Conduct site visits to monitor installation progress, quality and compliance.
• Inspect completed works to confirm they meet technical and quality standards.
• Provide technical guidance to site teams, subcontractors and junior engineers.
• Review material submittals, shop drawings and technical submissions.
• Assist with cost estimates, material requirements and budget monitoring.
• Maintain accurate engineering and project documentation.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
• 7‑10 years of experience in plumbing engineering, preferably in the construction industry.
• Strong knowledge of plumbing systems, water supply, drainage and sanitary installations.
• Good understanding of applicable plumbing codes, standards and construction practices.
• Ability to work under pressure and meet project deadlines.

Required skills

• Proficiency in AutoCAD and related engineering/design software.
• Expertise in pipe‑sizing calculations, flow‑rate and pressure analysis.
• Experience reviewing technical drawings, specifications, shop drawings and material submittals.
• Strong problem‑solving and technical communication abilities.
