Speech Language Pathologist – On‑site, Bahrain

About the role

The Speech and Language Pathologist assesses, diagnoses and treats patients with speech, language, voice, communication and swallowing disorders. The role supports long‑term care patients, including those with neurological, developmental and acquired conditions, to maximise functional communication and swallowing abilities and improve quality of life.

Key responsibilities

• Assess and diagnose communication, speech, language and swallowing disorders across all age groups.
• Develop and implement individualized, evidence‑based treatment plans.
• Provide therapy for conditions such as aphasia, dysarthria, apraxia, stuttering and voice disorders.
• Conduct bedside and instrumental assessments for dysphagia and manage swallowing therapy.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including physicians, nurses, physiotherapists, occupational therapists, dietitians and psychologists.
• Educate patients, families and caregivers on therapy goals, home programs and communication strategies.
• Document assessments, treatment plans, progress notes and outcomes in the hospital’s medical record system.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Speech and Language Pathology or Speech Therapy from a recognised university.
• Valid professional licence/registration to practice in Bahrain (NHRA) or eligibility to obtain one.
• Minimum six years’ experience as a Speech and Language Pathologist, preferably in a hospital or long‑term care setting.
• Experience managing adult neurological conditions such as stroke, traumatic brain injury, Parkinson’s disease or dementia is highly desirable.
