Testing & Commissioning Electrical Engineer

About the role

The Testing & Commissioning Electrical Engineer will lead the planning, execution, and documentation of electrical testing and commissioning activities for MEP projects. You will work closely with project teams, consultants, and clients to ensure all systems meet design specifications, safety standards, and regulatory requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Plan, organise and carry out electrical testing and commissioning in line with approved procedures and project schedules.
• Perform insulation resistance, continuity, contact resistance, relay protection, primary & secondary injection, cable integrity and functional tests.
• Analyse test results, identify deficiencies and recommend corrective actions.
• Prepare testing procedures, method statements, inspection checklists, commissioning reports and as‑built documentation.
• Coordinate testing activities with consultants, subcontractors, utility authorities and clients, and obtain necessary approvals.
• Ensure compliance with IEC, IEEE, BS and local electrical standards, as well as HSE requirements.
• Support project hand‑over by delivering complete and approved testing documentation.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering.
• Minimum 5 years of hands‑on experience in electrical testing and commissioning within MEP, power distribution or construction projects.
• Proven experience with 11kV panels/switchgear, power transformers, RMUs and HV/LV cable systems.
• Familiarity with IEC, IEEE, BS and local electrical standards.
• Ability to read and interpret single‑line diagrams, protection schemes and electrical drawings.
