Senior Technician - Digital Delivery (BIM)

About the role

AECOM is looking for an experienced Senior Technician - Digital Delivery (BIM) with a strong background in CAD/BIM and infrastructure projects, particularly wet utilities. The role manages and coordinates BIM models, oversees 2D drawing production, performs model quality checks and supports the Production/BIM Manager in delivering projects to BIM standards, project requirements and deadlines. It also involves guiding technicians and coordinating multidisciplinary infrastructure projects.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and guide technicians in daily modelling and drafting, ensuring timely delivery in line with project requirements and BIM standards.
• Develop, manage and coordinate BIM models and 2D drawings for infrastructure projects, focusing on foul sewer, stormwater, irrigation and potable water networks.
• Use Civil 3D and Revit for model authoring, design development, drawing production and quantity extraction.
• Perform model checking, clash detection and visual walkthroughs in Navisworks to resolve coordination issues.
• Assist the Production/BIM Manager and Supervisor with BIM audits and QA/QC reviews of discipline models and drawings.
• Ensure compliance with BIM Execution Plans, project BIM standards, modelling guidelines and information management procedures.
• Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams and manage information exchange through Common Data Environments, including Autodesk Construction Cloud and Bentley ProjectWise.
• Prepare, review and distribute drawings, model exports and coordination deliverables, and extract 2D drawings, schedules and quantities.
• Support BIM workflow development, identify technical challenges and recommend solutions.
• Mentor junior technicians and modellers, and ensure deliverables meet IFC and COBie requirements where applicable.

Required profile

• Diploma in Civil Engineering or equivalent; additional BIM and digital engineering training is an advantage.
• Minimum 12-15 years of overall relevant experience, including at least 5 years of dedicated BIM experience.
• Ideally a background in CAD/BIM modelling and infrastructure project delivery.
• At least 5 years of infrastructure project experience, especially in foul sewer, stormwater, irrigation and potable water networks.
• Experience in BIM authoring, coordination, clash detection and drawing production, and in multidisciplinary engineering consultancy projects.
• Ability to guide technicians and support BIM/Production Managers.
