Setting Out Manager – Manufacturing & Joinery

About the role

The Setting Out Manager will lead the coordination of internal and external clients and the setting‑out team to ensure smooth project manufacturing flow, high client satisfaction, and balanced quality‑cost performance. You will support divisional performance, drive efficiency improvements, and collaborate across functional areas.

Key responsibilities

• Manage assigned projects, reviewing details and steering setting‑out processes such as material submissions, procurement, shop‑drawing development, prototyping and manufacturing delivery.
• Oversee project programmes, schedules and client expectations, ensuring timely approval of shop drawings and cutting lists.
• Coordinate with production departments, verify material specifications, and handle variations and discrepancies.
• Plan and control material procurement so all items arrive before production starts.
• Identify and manage RFIs with clients, source hardware accessories, and optimise sourcing where possible.
• Lead site‑team coordination for surveys, fast‑track setting‑out plans, and contractual work interpretation.
• Prepare project status reports and forward‑plan schedules for cutting‑list issuance.

Required profile

• Minimum 10 years experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably in joinery setting‑out.
• Proven track record handling site surveys, manufacturing shop drawings, cutting‑list preparation, material take‑off, ordering and loading‑line planning.
• Strong knowledge of manufacturing procedures and common joinery materials (timber, boards, veneers, laminates).
