Arabic and Farsi Linguist (CAT II) for NAVCENT

About the role

This position provides contract linguistic support to U.S. Army operations in Bahrain, serving as a Subject Matter Expert on Arabic and Persian‑Farsi language and culture. The linguist will work closely with senior leadership and operational teams to ensure accurate communication and cultural insight.

Key responsibilities

• Interpret spoken Arabic and Persian‑Farsi during interviews, meetings, and conferences.
• Transcribe and analyze verbal communications for actionable intelligence.
• Scan, research, and analyze foreign‑language documents to extract key information.
• Provide cultural briefings and context on regional historical, political, sociological, and economic trends.

Required profile

• U.S. citizenship with a valid U.S. passport.
• Active Secret security clearance (or ability to obtain one before deployment).
• Willingness to work in Bahrain and aboard Navy vessels for short periods.
• Ability to work shifts and extended hours to support 24/7 operations.
• Medical examination and compliance with Army MOD15 requirements.

Required skills

• Arabic language proficiency at ILR Level 3.
• Persian‑Farsi language proficiency at ILR Level 3.
• English proficiency at ILR Level 2+ (oral and reading).
• Experience transcribing and analyzing spoken and written foreign‑language material.
