Asphalt Foreman

About the role

The Asphalt Foreman leads on‑site road and pavement projects, ensuring that all preparation and laying activities are carried out safely, efficiently, and to the highest quality standards. Reporting to the Senior Planning Technician, the foreman coordinates personnel, equipment, and materials to meet project timelines.

Key responsibilities

• Organise workforce, equipment, and tools required for preparation and laying works.
• Execute mainline works or multiple small projects safely and efficiently.
• Plan, coordinate, and supervise daily site operations.
• Calculate material quantities needed for site activities.
• Verify levels during laying operations to ensure accuracy.
• Oversee rolling operations, confirming correct procedures and patterns.
• Monitor uniformity and surface regularity of completed works.
• Inspect joints with a 3‑meter straight edge to maintain quality standards.
• Ensure all works comply with project specifications and maintain a clean, safe site.
• Report potential issues to the General Foreman or Senior Planning Technician.
• Prepare and submit required reports, adhering to quality‑control procedures.
• Enforce site protection measures and ensure safety of employees and the public.
• Perform additional assignments as directed by the Senior Planning Technician.

Required profile

• Secondary School Certificate (or equivalent).
• Minimum 10 years of proven experience in site supervision, preferably in asphalt or road construction.
• Strong report‑writing, communication, and supervisory abilities.
