Mechanical Design Engineer

About the role

The Mechanical Design Engineer will create, develop, and improve industrial equipment and mechanical systems for aluminium plants, petroleum facilities, material handling, and heavy‑industrial operations. You will work closely with production, fabrication, project, and site teams to deliver high‑quality engineering solutions and detailed manufacturing drawings.

Key responsibilities

• Design industrial equipment and machinery using SolidWorks and Autodesk Inventor.
• Create detailed 3D models, assemblies, and fabrication drawings for conveyors, bucket elevators, hoppers, cranes, platforms, tanks, ducts and custom equipment.
• Prepare general arrangement drawings, fabrication drawings, BOMs and assembly documentation.
• Perform equipment layout and plant mechanical arrangement design, and modify existing designs to meet project requirements.
• Coordinate with fabrication and production teams during manufacturing and support installation/commissioning with technical clarifications.
• Ensure designs comply with industrial standards, safety regulations and maintain engineering documentation and revision control.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Mechanical Engineering.
• 3–8 years of experience in mechanical design engineering, preferably in industrial equipment or heavy machinery.
• Strong problem‑solving ability, good communication, and the capacity to handle multiple projects under deadlines.

Required skills

• Expertise in SolidWorks.
• Expertise in Autodesk Inventor.
• Strong knowledge of 3D modeling and mechanical drafting.
• Familiarity with AutoCAD (advantage).
• Experience with sheet‑metal and structural design.
• Knowledge of GD&T and manufacturing standards.
• BOM preparation.
