Senior Accountant – General Ledger

About the role

Calo is expanding its finance function across multiple markets and needs a Senior Accountant to own the General Ledger and ensure accurate financial reporting. You will lead month‑end, quarter‑end and year‑end close processes, produce consolidated statements, and support strategic decisions with reliable data.

Key responsibilities

• Own the General Ledger, ensuring all journal entries, accruals and reconciliations are accurate and timely.
• Lead month‑end, quarter‑end and year‑end closing activities for multiple entities.
• Prepare consolidated financial reports and support the preparation of statutory financial statements.
• Ensure compliance with IFRS, GAAP, internal accounting policies and financial controls.
• Oversee day‑to‑day accounting operations including Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, cash management and bank reconciliations.
• Lead allocation and consolidation reporting across the group.
• Investigate and resolve complex accounting issues to maintain data integrity.
• Partner with external auditors by preparing schedules, documentation and addressing audit queries.
• Collaborate with finance and cross‑functional teams to improve processes, reporting efficiency and internal controls.
• Identify automation and process‑improvement opportunities for the finance function.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field.
• Professional accounting qualification (ACCA, CPA, CA, CMA) highly preferred.
• 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, including General Ledger and financial reporting.
• Strong experience managing month‑end and year‑end close processes.
• Solid understanding of IFRS and GAAP.
• Experience preparing consolidated financial statements.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and experience with ERP/accounting systems.
• Strong analytical, reconciliation and problem‑solving abilities.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder‑management skills.
• High level of accuracy, attention to detail and ownership.
