Bid Manager

About the role

The Bid Manager will support the division’s performance by enhancing client offerings and improving price positioning to drive business activity. Working closely with the department head, the role oversees day‑to‑day management and planning of estimation resources, ensuring continuous improvement of the strike‑rate on tender opportunities.

Key responsibilities

• Manage all estimation‑related processes, from interpreting tender documents to preparing bills of quantities.
• Lead and supervise the estimating team, planning workload and coordinating post‑tender activities such as handovers, awards and commercial support.
• Develop bid cost estimates within specified deadlines and maintain the bid calendar to meet submission commitments.
• Support cost control, maintain the supplier database and pre‑qualify new suppliers.
• Prepare and review material take‑offs for the purchasing department and coordinate with setting‑out and production teams.
• Review contract documents, ensure compliance with company policies and retain important bid documentation.
• Periodically review and update estimating policies and procedures.

Required profile

• University degree in Quantity Surveying, Engineering or equivalent.
• 10–15 years of experience in estimation within large‑scale joinery manufacturing companies.
• Strong knowledge of high‑quality joinery product estimation and commercial/contractual issues.
• Proven senior‑level leadership experience in the joinery manufacturing industry.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal and organisational skills.
• Familiarity with interior materials and their relationships.
