Compliance Officer & Money Laundering Reporting Officer (MLRO)

About the role

As a CBB‑mandated Controlled Function, you will serve as the primary guardian of our operating licence, leading all regulatory compliance efforts and acting as the Money Laundering Reporting Officer (MLRO) to protect our payment gateways against financial crime.

Key responsibilities

• Ensure daily operations, product launches and technology infrastructure comply with the CBB Rulebook (Volume 5) and Group policies.
• Serve as the main liaison with the CBB and Bahrain’s Financial Intelligence Directorate, handling regulatory correspondence, reporting and inspections.
• Champion data privacy under the Personal Data Protection Law, overseeing lawful handling of merchant and consumer data.
• Draft, implement and maintain the firm’s Compliance Manual, Code of Conduct and governance frameworks.
• Design and oversee AML/CFT policies, transaction monitoring systems and KYC/eKYC onboarding processes for merchants and corporate clients.
• Investigate alerts and file Suspicious Transaction Reports to the FID and CBB when required.
• Provide regulatory advice to the CEO, HR and Sales teams on new initiatives and partnerships in the GCC.
• Train staff annually on AML/CFT awareness.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Economics or a related discipline.
• 3–5 years of experience in fintech, digital payments, Web3 or related financial services.
• Deep understanding of the global fintech and digital payments ecosystem, including banks, PSPs and digital asset service providers.
• Proven ability to manage complex commercial discussions, partner onboarding and cross‑functional projects.
• Strong analytical, problem‑solving and communication skills with meticulous attention to detail.
• Ability to thrive in a fast‑paced, rapidly evolving environment and manage multiple workstreams.
