Deck Hand – Seaman 3

About the role

The Deck Hand supports the Master in keeping the vessel ready for safe and efficient deployment. Working on board Svitzer’s tug fleet, you will contribute to daily operations, safety initiatives, and maintenance tasks.

Key responsibilities

• Assist the Master to ensure the vessel is always available for deployment.
• Perform operational duties including salvage assistance, workshop tasks ashore, and equipment preparation for tow operations.
• Carry out maintenance and housekeeping on deck, in the engine room, and in accommodation areas as directed.
• Stand watches such as lookout on the bridge and deck when required.
• Apply the “Stop Work” and “Take 5” safety procedures and report near‑miss incidents.
• Conduct induction training for visitors and authorized personnel when senior crew are unavailable.

Required profile

• II/4 – Nav Watch Rating – Unlimited.
• STCW Basic Safety Training (A‑VI/1) and Security Training for Seafarers with Designated Security Duties (A‑VI/6).
• Valid Seafarer Medical certificate.
• Understanding of Svitzer’s safety management system and ability to propose safety improvements.
