Deck Hand (Seaman-8)

About the role

SVITZER is seeking a Deck Hand (Seaman‑8) to support safe and efficient vessel operations. Reporting to the Master, you will help keep the tug ready for deployment while adhering to company safety policies and local regulations.

Key responsibilities

• Assist the Master in all deck operations, including watch‑standing, lookout duties, and equipment handling.
• Perform maintenance, housekeeping, and cleaning tasks on deck, in the engine room and accommodation areas.
• Support salvage jobs, workshop activities ashore, and preparation of tow equipment.
• Execute safety procedures such as Stop Work, Take 5, and Near‑Miss reporting.
• Provide induction training for visitors and personnel when senior crew are unavailable.

Required profile

• II/4 – Nav Watch Rating – Unlimited.
• Basic Safety Training (STCW A‑VI/1).
• Security Training for Seafarers with Designated Security Duties (A‑VI/6).
• Valid Seafarer Medical certificate.
