Deck Hand – Vessel Operations

About the role
Svitzer, a global leader in towage and related maritime services, is seeking a Deck Hand to support safe and efficient vessel operations. Reporting directly to the Master, you will help keep the vessel ready for deployment while adhering to company safety policies and local regulations.
Key responsibilities
- Assist the Master in all deck and vessel operations, including salvage, workshop tasks, and equipment preparation.
- Perform maintenance, housekeeping, and cleaning duties on deck, in the engine room, and in accommodation areas as directed.
- Stand watches such as lookout on the bridge and deck when required.
- Initiate and participate in safety drills, report near‑misses, and apply the “Stop Work” and “Take 5” procedures to prevent injuries.
- Provide induction training for visitors and authorized personnel when senior crew are unavailable.
Required profile
- II/4 – Nav Watch Rating – Unlimited.
- Basic Safety Training (STCW A‑VI/1) and Security Training for Seafarers with Designated Security Duties (A‑VI/6).
- Valid Seafarer Medical certificate.
- Commitment to safety, ability to follow procedures, and willingness to stop work if unsafe.
