Director of Human Resources

About the role

The Director of Human Resources will lead the overall HR strategy, talent management, employee relations, learning and development, and culture for a new 5‑star luxury hotel. Reporting to the General Manager and Executive Committee, the role ensures alignment between business objectives and human capital while maintaining regulatory compliance.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and execute the pre‑opening HR master plan, budgeting, payroll, manning guide and benefits strategy.
• Establish SOPs, employee handbook policies and HR systems (HRIS, time & attendance) in line with corporate and local standards.
• Oversee recruitment, global talent sourcing, career fairs and pre‑employment processes.
• Manage government relations, work visas, residency permits and ensure compliance with Bahrain Labour Law and Bahrainisation quotas.
• Design and deliver learning, development and onboarding programmes, fostering an inclusive culture.
• Create competitive compensation packages, grievance procedures, performance appraisal systems and employee engagement initiatives.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or Business Administration; Master’s or professional certification (CIPD, SHRM) strongly preferred.
• Minimum 5 years as HR Director in a 5‑star luxury international hotel chain, with at least one pre‑opening project.
• Proven experience in manning guide creation, labour cost modelling and Middle East/GCC hospitality markets.
• Business fluency in English; Arabic fluency strongly preferred.

Required skills

• Implementation and management of HRIS and time‑and‑attendance systems.
• Design of manning guides and labour cost models.
• In‑depth knowledge of Bahrain Labour Law and local employment practices.
