Item Master Specialist (Civil)

About the role

The Item Master Specialist is responsible for creating, maintaining, and governing item master data within the ERP system, ensuring accurate classification and coding of materials, equipment, spare parts, and services to support procurement, inventory, and financial reporting.

Key responsibilities

• Create, maintain, and update item master records in the ERP system.
• Assign and maintain item codes following naming conventions and classification standards such as UNSPSC.
• Identify and eliminate duplicate records to preserve data integrity.
• Collaborate with Procurement, Warehouse, Engineering, Finance and other stakeholders to ensure accurate item identification.
• Conduct periodic master data audits, cleansing activities and data quality reviews.
• Generate reports and analytics on item master activities and data quality metrics.
• Develop and maintain item master data policies, procedures and governance documentation.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration or related field.
• 3‑5 years of experience in item master data management, supply chain, procurement or inventory control.
• Experience in construction, engineering or project‑based environments is preferred.
• Strong analytical, problem‑solving and attention‑to‑detail skills.

Required skills

• Proficiency with ERP systems such as SAP, Oracle or Microsoft Dynamics.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel and reporting tool skills.
• Knowledge of item classification methodologies including UNSPSC and commodity codes.
