Item Master Specialist (Mechanical/Electrical)

About the role

The Item Master Specialist is responsible for creating, maintaining, and governing item master data within the ERP system, ensuring accurate classification and coding of materials, equipment, spare parts, and services to support procurement, inventory, and financial processes.

Key responsibilities

• Create, update, and deactivate item master records, assigning codes according to naming conventions and classification standards.
• Validate item descriptions, specifications, units of measure, manufacturer details, and part numbers for accuracy.
• Identify and eliminate duplicate records, conduct data audits, and perform cleansing activities.
• Collaborate with Procurement, Warehouse, Engineering, Finance and other stakeholders to maintain standardized item information.
• Generate reports and dashboards on item master performance and data quality metrics.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration or related field.
• 3-5 years of experience in item master data management, supply chain, procurement or inventory control.
• Experience in construction, engineering, industrial or manufacturing environments is preferred.
• Strong analytical, problem‑solving and attention‑to‑detail skills.

Required skills

• Proficiency with ERP systems such as SAP, Oracle or Microsoft Dynamics.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel and reporting tool usage.
• Knowledge of item classification standards (UNSPSC, commodity codes, material groups).
