Key Account Operations Specialist

About the role

DHL Global Forwarding, the Group's air, ocean and road freight specialist, is hiring a Key Account Operations Specialist in Manama, Bahrain. The role manages end-to-end operations of assigned key accounts so that shipments are executed accurately and proactively, acting as the main operational contact between customers, internal teams, overseas offices, carriers, customs brokers and other service providers.

Key responsibilities

• Manage day-to-day airfreight shipments for assigned key accounts and coordinate bookings, documentation, customs clearance, transportation and delivery.
• Ensure shipments follow customer SOPs, agreed routing, cut-off times and service requirements, and own shipments from booking through delivery and file closure.
• Act as the primary operational contact, give timely shipment status updates and inform customers of delays, risks or disruptions, offering alternative routing where needed.
• Identify issues early, take corrective action for delays, space constraints, documentation or customs problems, and escalate critical issues internally.
• Perform root-cause analysis of recurring failures and implement preventive actions.
• Monitor customer-specific and internal operational KPIs, billing readiness, file completion, cost accuracy and exceptions, and review recurring service failures to drive improvements.

Required profile

• Minimum 3 years of experience in freight forwarding, logistics or key account operations preferred.
• Strong operational knowledge of airfreight and/or oceanfreight, preferably.
• Experience handling strategic or demanding customer accounts.
• Understanding of freight documentation, customs processes, carrier coordination and shipment milestones.
• Good written and verbal English.

Required skills

• Good knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Outlook and Teams.
• Knowledge of logistics and transport management systems.
