Lead Accounts Officer

About the role

The Lead Accounts Officer will act as the primary liaison between the accounts payable function, internal stakeholders, and external vendors. Reporting to the Head of Accounts Payable, this role ensures timely processing of payments, accurate reporting, and continuous improvement of AP processes.

Key responsibilities

• Serve as the main point of contact for all accounts payable inquiries.
• Review, approve, and process payments efficiently.
• Monitor AP dashboards, vendor balances, aged payables, and outstanding advances, providing data for analysis.
• Maintain accurate records, reconcile vendor statements and employee expenses, and resolve discrepancies.
• Escalate critical matters to the Head of Accounts Payable and Finance Director.
• Collaborate with IT to automate and streamline AP processes.
• Enhance existing reports and design new ones based on business needs.
• Assist in developing and implementing AP policies and procedures.
• Train and mentor AP staff on best practices.
• Liaise with external auditors during annual audits and support VAT internal audits.
• Perform ad‑hoc projects and tasks as assigned.

Required profile

• Minimum 3 years of experience in accounts payable or a similar finance role.
• Semi‑qualified Chartered Accountant, Bachelor/Master of Commerce, or equivalent qualification.
• Proven ability to build strong relationships with vendors and suppliers.
• Excellent prioritisation, multitasking, and attention‑to‑detail.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Experience leading a team of accountants and streamlining accounting processes.
• Fluency in written and spoken Arabic.
